Below the Belt Afternoon Teal raises over $4500 for Ovarian Cancer Research


Mackay community members gathered together to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer and to help create a future of hope for all women and their fight against this silent cancer on Sunday 25th February 2018.

We enjoyed a scrumptious afternoon tea as we discuss the myths and truths of ovarian cancer with our panelists:

Dr B Boyd - Gynecologist, President of AMA Queensland, Consulting room @ Mater Hospital and visiting Glenden, Moranbah, Clermont, Emerald, Dysart, Middlemount, Proserpine and Sarina each month offering general gynaecology and female urinary continence consulting and surgery.

Dr Zia Ansari - Consultant Medical Oncologist - Icon Cancer Care Mackay, visiting Mackay Mater and Staff Specialist in medical oncology Mackay Base Hospital.

Dr Elissa Hatherly - Principle Practitioner of the Family Planning and Well Women's Clinic (Mackay Base Hospital) and Breast Clinician at Mackay Base Hospital & Breastscreen Mackay and conducts private practice at Southside Medical Centre.

Trudy Crowley - "Nude Lunch Founder/Director" and Ambassador for Ovarian Cancer Australia

Jacquie Camilleri - Volunteer Trudy Crowley Ovarian Cancer Foundation.

There were also 2 multi-draw raffles and entertainment by (part Stage 5) to balance out the afternoon.
